How do AI credits work?

Each AI request uses credits. The model and size of your request set the cost. Check the credit cost, then confirm before writing. Rewrites, outlines, and retries also use credits. Each request allows up to 12,000 characters of notes and a script of up to 10 minutes. Once accepted, the quoted credits are used even if writing fails. Requests blocked before acceptance do not use credits.

What happens when I reach my limit?

AI writing pauses. You can still type, import local files, and read your scripts for free. Planned credits reset on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC, including for yearly plans. Unused credits do not roll over. No automatic extra charges. Canceling Inky AI will not remove a separately purchased app license.

Do I need my own ChatGPT or Claude subscription?

No. The planned Inky AI allowance is an optional subscription, separate from buying the app. A personal ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not pay for this app’s AI service. AI writing is not active in this preview.

Can I buy or cancel a plan now?

Paid checkout is not open yet. No subscription is being started here. We will show billing, cancellation terms, and your allowance before paid plans launch.

On-device speech

Keeps speech processing on your device. Needs a supported browser and a local language pack.

Browser speech

For browsers that offer online speech, including supported Safari and Chrome versions. Your browser may send your microphone audio to its speech provider. Inky compares the returned words with your script on this device.

Choose a speech option. You will press Play and allow the microphone in the reader.

Availability depends on your browser, device, language and permissions. You can turn the microphone off any time. If speech is unavailable, manual scrolling still works.
